My Little Lady

Beryl is all back to normal enjoying life and training me again!  She is never going to be a big girl and at the moment is just under 26kg. This does make it easier for the PW!

Her training is back on track which is more than can be said for my weight. Beryl finds it difficult to settle when out for coffee or lunch so I have been putting more effort there. Why does tea need a scone or cake?  On the good side she is now getting much better and stays down but whether she is just nosy or slightly nervous she will not just close her eyes-even after a good free run.

Her lead work is getting good and she easily managed a big shop this week. She is now older than my boys who all left for Forfar just over 1 year. This having a girl and a late season is rather nice.

Although little snow here what did fall along with frosts make the ground lovely and white and mud solid. Hence Beryl and friend Faye(another GD pup) stayed lovely and clean. Beryl although a month older is the smallest one!

Season's Greetings

That took on a whole new meaning in our household as Beryl came into season on the day the Xmas tree went up. It was a beautiful tree but as its on a new cream carpet I haven't been in that room to see it much! That has meant all the family visitors have been crammed into the family room and kitchen and Xmas lunch was at a table surrounded by towels. Xmas with a difference!!

Beryl also became ONE on Xmas Eve. Her party was much smaller due to her condition which did make her very quiet and I suspect not feeling very good. She still managed to enjoy her dog food cake although no amount of training helped her blow out the candle.

She loved all her presents and the extra attention with all her relatives!

As we move towards NewYear Beryl is still not clear to go out yet but I have removed the towels. Maybe tomorrow she will completely stop dripping!

Happy New Year

11 months already

Having your puppy born on Xmas Eve is both very handy and a curse. As she turned 11 months you realise its only a month until Xmas!!!

Beryl is doing really well with some walks and shop trips excellent

(and some not so good). She continues to be a good girl at home although she does have a funny habit of suddenly disappearing upstairs. Since she is allowed its not a problem but I just don't know why.

She has been changed onto GI food due to being sick every 10days or so and that seems to have done the trick. Weird problem but she was never ill as such.

Season! What season? We just keep waiting and wondering when it will happen. The only sign of more hormones is the recall when free running is slightly slower (it couldn't have got any better) and she is willing to go further from me to meet another dog etc. As she is my first girl not sure this really means much but it gives some hope it might happen!

She has been a busy girl visiting companies for Xmas card sales and seems to enjoy all the attention. She still hasn't been asked to visit her sponsor company so not sure when that is going to happen.  Beryl loves free running and is now realising, sadly, that mud is ok to stand in. My poor towels.
Relaxing at home she loves Countryfile and For the love of dogs. A few others but not so keen on Dynasties with penguins!

10 months tomorrow!

I can't believe Beryl is 10 months tomorrow. More worrying is it means Xmas is getting close.
Beryl continues to progress in all areas and although still too excited when people speak to me or come into the house she does settle quite quickly now. All my poor friends are having to ignore her when they arrive!

We have been away both with her and had her boarded. She coped really well with both and with the routine change. She probably enjoyed her long lie when getting boarded compared to when we have to get her up!!!

Our one problem is intermittent sickness. It occurs out of the blue about once every 10 days to 2 weeks. The present thinking is its acid as her antacids stopped it for 3 weeks. We are now getting a food change to gastro intestinal. Cross your fingers.

We are still waiting for her first season and despite her sister having had hers there is no sign. As this is my first girl I am being a bit paranoid when free running if a boy shows a lot of interest. Is this what it feels like when you have a daughter?

Pictures today show her out for an Autumnal free run and helping raise some money at M&S in Aberdeen.

Shetland Ferry

We are lucky in Aberdeen that we get invited onboard the ferry to Shetland for training. It is new surfaces and a variety of stairs including a very steep set. Beryl coped very well until she had a wee accident. That was rather unexpected!!  We all finished off with a cup of tea in the ships restaurant. So civilised.

Looks as if she is listening intently at school!

The New Road

Aberdeen is getting a new Western Peripheral Route (bypass) which should have been opened but now the date is November. They decided on having an open weekend where you could walk on a short stretch and they had some fun activities as well as information about it etc. Anyway we decided to go. This meant a short drive to get on a bus as you were not allowed to walk or drive there.
Beryl, as usual was quite happy having a wee outing and other than beside the food vans walked beautifully. I got an ice cream so I was happy too!
We had been away quite a while so Beryl, before getting back on the shuttle bus, so Beryl had a drink and a busy (yes at the edge of this very expensive new road!)before we hopped back on the next shuttle bus.

Time

I cannot believe beryl is almost 8 months old. Training still ongoing obviously with some success and yes some not so successful.
Had to laugh this week when Beryl was going up stairs and beautiful stopped at each group of steps. Before I could pat myself on the back she took off and belted up the stairs dragging me behind only to stop again!  Work in progress.
She is still a lovely girl who responds well to commands. She is however almost 8 months so every day of good recall is a bonus!
I am sorry there have not been many pictures but here are two from over the summer.

Keeping cool in the summer heatwave.

Just wondering if camping would be fun. (I am too old!!!)
